Tempo.co, Jakarta - The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes that the 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump, will choose cooperation with China over confrontation, as both nations would benefit from collaboration and incur losses from conflict.

"We have always believed that the steady, healthy, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations serves the mutual interests of both countries and aligns with the expectations of the international community," said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning at a press conference in Beijing on Monday, January 20, 2025, ahead of Donald Trump's inauguration as the 47th President.

Mao Ning stated that the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs follows the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and mutually beneficial cooperation. China is ready to collaborate with the new U.S. administration to strengthen dialogue and communication and effectively manage differences.

"We are ready to make greater strides in China-U.S. relations from a new starting point, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, find the best path for both countries to coexist in the new era, and bring benefits to both nations and the world," he said.

Trump took the oath of office, administered by Chief Justice John Roberts. JD Vance then took the oath as Vice President of the United States for the 2025-2029 term, followed by Trump's inaugural address as President of the United States for the 2025-2029 term.

In his inaugural address, Trump announced that he would soon implement measures to declare a national emergency at the southern U.S. border to curb illegal migration. He also stated that his administration would deport millions of illegal immigrants to their home countries and designate drug cartels as terrorist organizations.

Trump also expressed his intention to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America and reclaim the Panama Canal from Panama, noting that the U.S. had invested significant resources and lost 38,000 lives during its construction. Regarding the U.S. economy, Trump declared that the country was facing a national energy emergency due to excessive spending and rising energy prices, which had fueled the ongoing inflation crisis.

To address these challenges, he vowed to terminate the Green New Deal and roll back electric vehicle mandates to protect the U.S. automotive industry, granting Americans the freedom to produce and buy any type of vehicle. Additionally, Donald Trump announced plans to impose tax tariffs on foreign countries, aiming to further enrich the United States.
