TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received a report from Minister of Downstream Industry and Investment/CEO of Danantara, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, regarding the construction of permanent housing for refugees in Sumatra. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya explained that President Prabowo met with Rosan at the President's private residence in Jakarta on Saturday, December 27, 2025.

"President Prabowo requested a report on the 15,000 housing units specially constructed by Danantara for the affected residents in Sumatra," said Teddy on Saturday night.

Rosan reported that 500 housing units are ready for construction this week. The construction of temporary and permanent residences is also being carried out by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the Ministry of Public Works, and the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas.

In addition to reporting on housing for refugees, Rosan also reported on the development of the Indonesian Hajj Village in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

"Minister Rosan conveyed that, due to President Prabowo's initiative and diplomacy, the Saudi government fully supports the program, especially after Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman communicated with President Prabowo by phone on December 8," said Teddy.

Teddy stated that President Prabowo wants all Indonesian pilgrims to have comfortable accommodation and facilities when performing the Hajj pilgrimage. The location is also quite close to the Masjid al-Haram.

On several occasions, Rosan announced that the government through Danantara has purchased a hotel and a five-hectare plot of land in the Thakher area of Mecca.

In that area, the Saudi government is also constructing a bridge in the form of a tunnel towards Masjid al-Haram. If the bridge is used by pilgrims, the distance from the hotel to Masjid al-Haram will be around 2.5 kilometers.

Furthermore, Danantara is currently listed as a bidder for land auction in Western Hindawiyah, Mecca. The land is also designated for the Indonesian Hajj Village, which is also 2.5 kilometers away from Masjid al-Haram.
