Dutch Media Says Alex Pastoor Will Become Patrick Kluivert's Assistant at the Indonesian National Team

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Dutch media, Voetbal International (VI), said Alex Pastoor became Patrick Kluivert's assistant coach in the Indonesian National Team which in the next few months will compete in the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

According to the Dutch football magazine, Tuesday, Pastoor has verbally agreed with PSSI to become Patrick Kluivert's assistant.

VI also reported that Denny Landzaat will join Patrick Kluivert's coaching team handling the Indonesian national team, but did not specifically reveal his position.

Pastoor is a former midfielder and spent his career with FC Volendam from 1989 to 1995.

He also played for Heerenveen, then Harelbeke in Belgium, Austria Lustenau and SCR Altach, both in the Austrian League.

After hanging up his boots, Pastoor chose a career as a coach and has handled clubs in the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Austria.

Lastly, Pastoor spent two and a half seasons managing Almere City FC in the Dutch League to lead 100 matches with an average result of 1.47 points.

Denny Landzaat is a former Dutch national team midfielder from 2001 to 2008, in addition to being a former Ajax and Feyenoord player.

The 48-year-old man also had a career in the English League by defending Wigan Athletic for two seasons to play 52 matches with a contribution of five goals.

After retiring as a player in 2014, Landzaat became an assistant coach for Feyenoord in the Netherlands), Lech Poznan in Poland and Ferencvaros in Hungary.

Member of the Executive Committee (Exco) of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Arya Sinulingga said that the candidate for the technical assistant coach of the Indonesian national team has the characteristics of a former Dutch League coach.

Arya detailed that the candidate is a coach who routinely brings second division clubs promoted to the first division of the Dutch League.

"What is certain is (the assistant candidates) are also high level in the Netherlands. I mean good, from the Netherlands also taken. Those who have achievements in getting relegated clubs into the Eradivisie (Dutch League)," said Arya to reporters in Jakarta, Tuesday.

Arya said that these technical assistants will accompany the appointed coach candidates with the indicator of having leadership and controlling the players' dressing room.

The name of the former Dutch national team striker and Ajax Amsterdam legend, Patrick Kluivert emerged as a replacement for Shin Tae-yong.
