TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has dispatched emergency energy assistance to flood-affected communities in Sumatra, including 1,000 electricity generators and 3,000 gas stoves equipped with regulators and hoses.
The aid was sent off by Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta on Saturday, December 27, 2025.
Bahlil said the generators are intended for 224 villages across 10 regencies in Aceh province that remain without electricity following severe flooding. He noted that access to electricity and basic cooking facilities is among the most urgent needs for displaced residents, particularly those staying in temporary shelters.
“Acting on the President’s instructions, the ministry is deploying 1,000 generators with an average capacity of 5 to 7 kVA to supply electricity for evacuees living in tents, so they can meet their basic daily needs,” Bahlil said in a written statement.
The generators were transported using Hercules aircraft operated by the Indonesian Air Force, while the gas stoves and their accessories were delivered by cargo planes to ensure rapid distribution to affected areas.
Bahlil explained that the generators are a temporary measure for locations where electricity cannot yet be restored due to damaged infrastructure.
While Aceh’s high-voltage transmission lines linking the Sumatra and Arun backbone networks to Bireuen and Nagan Raya are already connected, he said, low-voltage distribution networks remain incomplete in several areas.
In addition to the generators, the ministry sent 3,000 gas stoves of various types, consisting of 2,000 heavy-duty stoves, 930 boxed stoves, and 70 additional units.
Bahlil said all assistance had undergone data verification, inspection, and packaging in line with logistics standards. Distribution is being coordinated with local governments, authorities, and disaster response posts to ensure the aid reaches affected communities promptly and accurately.
