TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police has rescheduled the examination of ex-KPK (Corruption Eradication Commission) chair Firli Bahuri today, after previously skipping the first summons. The examination is scheduled to take place at 10:00 AM local time in the Examination Room, 6th floor of the Bareskrim Polri Building.
Firli Bahuri's legal representative, Ian Iskandar, stated that he will visit Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police this morning. However, he did not clarify whether Firli Bahuri will also attend the examination. "Yes, tomorrow we will go to PMJ," Ian said when contacted by Tempo on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
"Yes. Just wait and see," he said when asked if Firli Bahuri will also attend.
When asked about the reason for visiting Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police instead of Mabes Polri as per the invitation, Ian did not respond. He decided to hang up the phone.
The examination is a follow-up to the alleged corruption crime of extortion against former Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL). Firli's case is currently being handled by the Joint Investigative Team. "Joint Subdit Tipikor Bareskrim, Dirkrimsus of Jakarta Metro Jaya, and Kortas Tipikor Polri," said Ade.
Director of General Crime Investigation Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police, Commissioner Ade Safri Simanjuntak, explained that Firli Bahuri's case cannot be transferred to the Prosecutor's Office yet as there are still documents that need to be completed. "Investigators are still following guidance P-19," he said.
He refused to provide more detailed information on what requirements have not been completed and requested by the Prosecutor's Office. Ade only confirmed that the investigation process against Firli is ongoing. "The progress of the investigation up to this point is very good, and there are no obstacles whatsoever," said Ade Safri when contacted on Thursday, November 21, 2024.
Firli Bahuri has been named a suspect in the alleged corruption crime of extortion on November 22, 2023. Firli is suspected of extorting Syahrul while handling a corruption case at the Ministry of Agriculture. However, this case file has not been finalized by the police investigators yet.
Meanwhile, Syahrul Yasin Limpo admitted to giving Rp1.3 billion to Firli Bahuri. He also confirmed meeting Firli at GOR Tangki, Tamansari, West Jakarta, when the KPK leader was playing badminton. But the money was considered a gesture of friendship. "I only thought of it as friendship between Mr. Firli and me. We were both in the same cabinet and used to sit close to each other," said Syahrul at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court, Monday, June 24, 2024.
In addition, the Jakarta Metro Jaya investigators have also opened a new case regarding the meeting between Firli Bahuri and Syahrul Yasin Limpo. In this case, Firli is charged under Article 36 of the KPK Law regarding the prohibition of anti-corruption institution leaders meeting with parties involved in ongoing cases.
