TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A video claiming that Joko Widodo, or Jokowi, visited the disaster site in West Sumatra was uploaded by a TikTok account [archive] on November 28, 2025, and Facebook on December 4, 2025.
The video shows Jokowi and his entourage walking around the site affected by the natural disaster. The video maker added the text, “Jokowi cares most about disaster victims, going directly to the disaster site without saying much.”

Is it true that Jokowi visited the flood disaster site in West Sumatra in November 2025?
FACT CHECK
Tempo verified the content by conducting a reverse image search and comparing it with reliable sources. The results show that Jokowi's visit in the video took place in 2024 when he was still the President of Indonesia.

The video of Jokowi's visit was broadcast by a number of media outlets, one of which was CNN Indonesia on May 21, 2024, with the title “Jokowi Inspects the Location of the Cold Lahar Flood from Mount Marapi”.
Quoted from Antara.com, Jokowi and his wife, Iriana, directly inspected the location of the flash flood and cold lava disaster in Agam Regency, West Sumatra, on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. Jokowi visited the disaster site in Bukik Batabuah Village, which was almost completely flattened by the cold lava flood from Mount Marapi on May 11, 2024.
In the village, Jokowi observed the cleanup of building debris using heavy machinery. He also inspected the ongoing construction of roads and other emergency bridges.
Jokowi did not visit the flood disaster site in Sumatra that occurred in late November 2025. Jokowi's term as president ended on October 20, 2024.
Flood Disaster in Sumatra

The number of victims in the three provinces, Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, as of Wednesday, December 3, 2023, was recorded at 743 people. This data is based on data from the Indonesian Disaster Data Geoportal owned by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).
In detail, 630 people were reported missing and 2,600 injured. A total of 3.3 million people from 50 districts/cities were affected. In detail, 1.5 million people in Aceh, 1.7 million people in North Sumatra, and 141,800 people in West Sumatra were affected.
CONCLUSION
Based on the results of the fact-checking process, Tempo's Fact-Checking Team concludes that the claim that Jokowi immediately visited West Sumatra after the 2025 flood disaster is misleading.
