TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka attended the briefing for ministerial candidates of the Prabowo Subianto cabinet at Padepokan Garuda Yaksa, Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday morning, October 16, 2024.
Gibran arrived in front of Prabowo's residence complex using a white Land Cruiser car with license plate AD 1523 HU around 07:30 AM local time. The eldest son of President Joko Widodo did not get out of the vehicle to give a statement and only greeted some members of the media.
Prabowo called ministerial candidates, deputy ministerial candidates, and other prospective officials in separate occasions on Kertanegara Street, South Jakarta. A total of 49 figures were summoned on Monday, October 14, 2024. The next day in a separate event, the Chairman of the Gerindra Party received 59 individuals.
In these two occasions, Gibran was not present at Kertanegara. Gibran's last agenda seen in Jakarta was meeting with several leaders of the People's Consultative Assembly including MPR Chair Ahmad Muzani in the Menteng area on Monday evening.
During the meeting with Muzani, Gibran received an invitation to attend the inauguration of the president-elect and vice president-elect. The swearing-in ceremony by Prabowo as president and Gibran as vice president is scheduled for October 20 at the parliament building, Senayan.
Regarding the formation of the cabinet, Gibran stated that the cabinet is Prabowo's affair as the elected president. The eldest son of President Jokowi admitted to knowing only a little from the list chosen by Prabowo.
"I've only gotten a bit of a 'leak' during lunch. Once again, we respect the choices of the elected President," said Gibran to the media in Menteng, Jakarta, Monday afternoon.
Based on Tempo's monitoring at Hambalang, Prabowo's ministerial candidates started arriving at Padepokan Garuda Yaksa from 06:15 AM local time. Former Chairman of the Crescent Star Party Yusril Ihza Mahendra arrived first. Followed by the Secretary of the National Campaign Team, Nusron Wahid, a few minutes later.
Yusril did not give a media statement and went straight into Prabowo's residence complex. Meanwhile, Nusron, wearing a white shirt, briefly turned his car around before entering the training center again.
Several vehicles also entered and exited Prabowo's residence without opening the windows when greeted by the media. This includes the vehicles of the Secretary of State, Pratikno, Deputy Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning Raja Juli Antoni, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir, Minister of Communication and Information Rudiantara, and Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto.
Lawyer Natalius Pigai, Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf, Golkar Politician Meutya Hafid, and Chairperson of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono were also seen arriving at Hambalang. Most of them did not get out of the vehicle to give a statement.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Trade, Budi Santoso, said that Prabowo's ministerial candidates were asked to gather around 07:30 AM. Budi, who is suspected to become the Minister of Trade, said he had no idea what topics would be covered in today's briefing. However, he mentioned that the training could be completed by 07:30 PM.
"Two days (of briefing), well, I don't know the themes or anything," said Budi in a white shirt. He admitted that he did not prepare anything to stay overnight at Hambalang. "That is, if we are to stay overnight," he said.
