TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has allocated 1,190 housing subsidies for the Ministry of Home Affairs employees. This number is still below the ministry's planned target of 2,000 employees.
Commissioner of the People's Housing Savings Agency (BP Tapera) Heru Pudyo Nugroho mentioned that the remaining quota will be distributed towards the end of December. "So, there's just a little bit left. Hopefully, it will be fully distributed before December," said Heru at the Ministry of Home Affairs building on Thursday, August 7, 2025.
Heru explained that the housing subsidy for employees at the Ministry of Home Affairs aims to improve the welfare of workers who do not own a house due to financial constraints. Employees eligible for the housing quota have a monthly salary of no more than Rp7 million.
According to Heru, the housing subsidy involves a down payment of only 1 percent of the house price. Furthermore, the installment period can be up to 20 years with an interest rate of only 5 percent. "The monthly installments, if taken for 20 years, are approximately Rp1 million. This already includes fire, credit, and life insurance," said Heru.
Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian expressed his gratitude for providing housing subsidy quotas for 2,000 employees in his ministry. He requested that the remaining quota be distributed to employees in need.
Tito mentioned that there are approximately 6,000 employees in the Ministry of Home Affairs. He strongly advised the echelon I in each work unit to select employees who truly fit the criteria and require the house. "Housing support is fundamental. When it is fulfilled, their performance will be good, and the potential for deviations will also decrease," said Tito at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
