TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo has revealed that no budget has been released yet for the construction of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN). He claimed that he is currently focused on finalizing the PU Ministry's budget, which has been reduced to Rp29.57 trillion due to efficiency measures directed by President Prabowo Subianto.
"The budget for infrastructure has been blocked entirely," said Dody after a meeting with the House of Representatives' (DPR) Commission V at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, on Thursday, February 6, 2024. "The progress is only enough to buy lunch for the Minister."
In 2024, the Ministry of Public Works allocated Rp40.29 trillion for the new capital city project in East Kalimantan. The planned spending for IKN is divided across four sectors: Water Resources (Rp1.45 trillion); Road Construction (Rp18.32 trillion); Building Construction (Rp12.09 trillion); and Housing (Rp8.43 trillion).
In the Water Resources sector, the Ministry of Public Works is working on continued flood control for the Sanggai 1A Watershed, flood control for the Sepaku, Sanggai, Seluang, and Tengin Rivers, and flood control for the Pemaluan River.
The Ministry is also refining and arranging the Benungan Sepaku Sempi area and building the Embung Core Area Government Center (KIPP) and Pemaluan Watershed.
In the Road Construction sector, the Ministry is building access roads to the mosque in the IKN Area and logistic docks, the National Axis Road on the west and east sides, feeder roads (districts) in the IKN Area, and Toll Road Sections 1, 3A, 3B, 5A, 5B-1, 5B-2, 6A, 6B, and 6C-1.
Furthermore, the Ministry is building the VVIP Airport runway, Toll Road Section 1 from Sepinggan Airport to Balsam Toll Road, duplicating the Pulang Balang Bentang Pendek II Bridge, and building access roads to the VVIP Airport.
In the Building Construction sector, the Ministry is building Water Treatment Plants (IPA) and supporting buildings for the Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) in Sepaku and its pipeline network; WWTP 1, 2, and 3 in IKN KIPP and their pipeline network; and TPST 1 in IKN KIPP.
