TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso, announced plans to conclude the Indonesia-Tunisia Preferential Trade Agreement (IT-PTA) next year, following the completion of negotiations. According to Budi, the agreement is ready and only awaits formal signatures.
“We plan to sign it in January. It’s just a matter of time,” Budi said during the strategic forum on Expanding Export Markets to Peru and Tunisia: Potential, Opportunities, and Challenges of IP-CEPA and IT-PTA in Jakarta on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
He added that Tunisia’s Trade Minister has requested that the agreement be signed in Indonesia, highlighting the readiness on both sides.
Budi emphasized Indonesia’s ongoing efforts to expand its network of trade partners, citing existing agreements with the European Union, Canada, Peru, and other nations. He encouraged the business community to leverage these agreements to maximize market opportunities.
“Every trade agreement is designed to avoid trade deficits and increase exports. We need each other,” he said.
The Trade Minister also revealed plans to conduct business matching sessions with Tunisia and Peru, both virtually and in person. These initiatives aim to accelerate trade, facilitate product exchange, and boost exports for all parties involved.
“We want to have business matching, and face-to-face interaction would be even better,” he added.
