TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Low-cost airline Indonesia AirAsia recorded 4.99 million passengers in the third quarter of 2024, a 10 percent growth from the same period last year with 4.52 million passengers.
The President Director of Indonesia AirAsia, Veranita Yosephine Sinaga, said the company’s positive performance aligns with the growth of aviation services in Indonesia. “Where the public interest in traveling by air continues to grow," said Veranita at the Public Expose of PT AirAsia Indonesia Tbk. in Jakarta, Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
The airline also records Rp5.91 trillion of revenues for the third quarter of 2024. “Reflecting a 20 percent increase from Rp4.93 trillion in the same period in 2023,” said Veranita.
According to her, the contributing factors to Indonesia AirAsia's revenue increase in the third quarter of 2024 are the support from 25 operating aircraft, a 7 percent capacity increase—which accounts for 5.70 million seats—and an 89 percent load factor.
Additionally, Indonesia AirAsia also recorded a significant increase in EBITDA during the same period, amounting to 331 percent, from Rp-93 billion to Rp306 billion.
In the third quarter of 2024, Indonesia AirAsia recorded several achievements, including winning the award for 7 Most Popular Brands of the Year 2024 in the Air Transportation category from Jawa Pos.
Furthermore, Indonesia AirAsia successfully expanded its connectivity by opening 5 new international routes, namely Jakarta-Kota Kinabalu, Jakarta-Bandar Seri Begawan, Bali-Cairns, Bali-Kota Kinabalu, and Bali-Phuket. This aligns with the efforts of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to achieve the target of 17 million international tourist visits by the end of 2024.
To support the enhancement of passenger travel experience, in the third quarter of 2024, Indonesia AirAsia operated a total of 32 flight routes, consisting of 8 domestic routes and 24 international routes, with a total frequency reaching 399 flights per week. "This step reflects the company's commitment to strengthening connectivity and supporting the growth of the tourism sector [in Indonesia]," said Veranita.
