TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian national football team has reached its highest FIFA world ranking, climbing to 118th place according to the latest update released on Thursday, July 10, 2025.
"Alhamdulillah (Thank God), the Indonesian national team has successfully moved up five spots to 118th place in the latest FIFA rankings. This is Indonesia’s best position in the past 19 years," said Erick through his official Instagram account.
Indonesia now holds 1,154.55 points, an increase of 11.63 points from the previous total of 1,142.92 when the team was ranked 123rd in April.
The rise in points came from two matches played in June during the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Indonesia secured a 1-0 win against China but later suffered a 0-6 defeat to Japan.
In addition to improving its global ranking, the Garuda squad also rose in Asia, moving from 22nd to 21st place in the regional standings.
Indonesia’s new position places it ahead of North Korea, which dropped to 119th. Just above Indonesia is Vietnam, ranked 113th with 1,169.92 points.
"We continue to push the Indonesian national team to break into the top 100 of the FIFA rankings," Erick added.
There were no changes among the top five teams in the world rankings. Argentina remains in first place, followed by Spain, France, England, and Brazil. Portugal, which won the UEFA Nations League, rose to sixth place, pushing the Netherlands down to seventh. Belgium stays in eighth, while Germany and Croatia complete the top ten.
The next FIFA world ranking update is scheduled for September 18, 2025, which is 70 days from now.
