TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian U-17 national team has suffered another defeat in the group stage of the U-17 World Cup 2025. Facing one of the strong contenders, Brazil, the squad led by Nova Arianto had to admit defeat with a score of 0-4.

The match, held at Pitch 7 Aspire Zone, Al Rayyan, Qatar, on Friday, November 7, 2025, was a tough one for the young Garuda squad. Indonesia's goal was breached by Luis Eduardo in the third minute, an own goal by Putu Panji in the 33rd minute, a goal by Felipe Morais in the 39th minute, and another by Ruan Pablo in the 75th minute.

This second defeat further dims Indonesia's chances of advancing to the round of 32. The Red and White team currently sits in third place in Group H, without any points, but with a better goal difference than Honduras, who are at the bottom of the group.

The opportunity to automatically advance as the top two teams has closed. Putu Panji and teammates can now only hope to enter as one of the six best third-placed teams. To do so, they must defeat Honduras in the last match while also waiting for results from other groups.

Match Overview

Brazil immediately applied pressure from the start. The team led by Dudu Patetuci took advantage of Indonesia's defensive lapses and scored an early goal in the third minute.

After falling behind, Indonesia began to play more cohesively and boldly pressed forward. However, their efforts often faltered in the midfield due to Brazil's strong pressing.

The concentration of the young Garuda team waned. Their opponents seized the opportunity to extend the lead. In the 33rd minute, a cross by Kayke was misjudged by Putu Panji, resulting in an own goal. Six minutes later, Felipe Morais widened the gap to 3-0 after leveraging a pull-back from the right side and outmaneuvering a player before releasing a powerful shot into the corner of the goal.

Entering the second half, Brazil slowed the pace and made several substitutions. Nevertheless, Indonesia still struggled to break free from the pressure. In the 75th minute, Ruan Pablo unleashed a long-range shot that Dafa Al Gasemi could not contain, sealing the match with a score of 4-0.

Indonesia had two chances through Zahaby Gholy in the closing minutes, but failed to score a goal.
