TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Navy is targeting to dismantle a 5-kilometer sea fence on the coast of Tanjung Pasir Beach, Tangerang, Banten, on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. This number has increased from the previous dismantling of 2.5 kilometers.
Commander of the Indonesian Navy Main Base (Danlantamal) III Jakarta Brigadier General Harry Indarto said that today the Indonesian Navy together with joint personnel are carrying out the dismantling at two points. "Along 5 kilometers here (Tanjung Pasir). The dismantling of the fence today is here and Kronjo," said Harry at Tanjung Pasir Beach, Wednesday morning, January 22, 2025.
According to Harry, there are a number of evaluations so that the implementation of the dismantling of the sea fence today can be more efficient. One of them is the use of ships. On Saturday, December 18, 2025, the dismantling used two tug boats which were hampered by shallow seas.
Today, three amphibious tank type combat vehicles were deployed to help with the efficiency of the removal. In addition, said Harry, these three amphibious tanks were also used to transport a number of VIP guests into the waters. Based on Tempo's monitoring, the top of the amphibious tank has been modified with additional seats.
The dismantling process has been carried out since 10:00 local time. The Indonesian Navy estimates that the dismantling will be carried out until 17:00 local time. However, it will be adjusted to weather conditions.
Based on documents received by Tempo, the Indonesian Navy deployed 753 troops to dismantle the sea fence today. Other institutions, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) deployed 450 people, Polair 80 people, the Republic of Indonesia Sea and Coast Guard Unit 30 people, the Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla) 100 people, and the Banten Provincial Government 95 people.
In addition, there are around 1,115 fishermen who will join the agenda to dismantle the sea fence today. These fishermen consist of the Tanjung Pasir Beach Fishermen's Association and several other fishermen's groups in Teluknaga District, Tangerang, Banten. So that a total of 2,623 cross-agency personnel were deployed.
