KPK Supervisory Board Receives 188 Reports of Ethics Violation between 2019 and 2024

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Supervisory Board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) received 188 reports of alleged ethical violations within the anti-corruption body during its five-year term. The reports involved employees, investigators and KPK senior officials.

Albertina Ho, a member of the supervisory board, said the ethics body received the most complaints in 2023. "A total of 65 complaints," she said at a press conference on the performance of the KPK supervisory board at the ACLC KPK building in South Jakarta on Thursday, December 12.

During these years, one of the reported ethics violations was that of former KPK chief Firli Bahuri. In addition, Albertina said, the Supervisory Board also found a case of extortion committed at the KPK detention center in 2023.

The KPK Supervisory Board received the lowest number of ethics complaints in 2020, with 20 alleged ethics violations reported.

In addition, the KPK Board received 38 reports in 2021, 26 reports in 2022, and 39 reports as of December 10 this year. The current term of the KPK Supervisory Board, headed by Chairman Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean, will end on December 20.

Out of a total of 188 reports received by the Board during its term, 22 decisions were made that found ethical violations. They consisted of 15 minor ethics violations, eight moderate ethics violations and five serious ethics violations.

On an annual basis, the KPK Board issued four decisions on ethics violations in 2020, seven in 2021, four in 2022, three in 2023 and five in 2024.
