TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The General Elections Commission (KPU) said 203 million people are registered for the upcoming regional elections, based on KPU’s final voter list. These voters are not determined by central KPU but based on the data collected by provincial and municipal KPU in each electoral district.
"Based on the voter list, there will be around 203 million voters. Since it’s a regional election, the data collection ends at provincial and municipal KPUs," said KPU Commissioner Betty Epsilon Idroos on Thursday, November 7, 2024.
Betty said the 203 million eligible voters are spread across 435,296 polling stations throughout Indonesia. The voting and counting processes in this election will be aided by the Sirekap Mobile application.
According to Betty, the Sirekap Mobile application has been improved for the upcoming election. Betty assures there won’t be a repeat of disruptions that occurred during the February presidential election.
"The server did well during the trial, both the upload and download (of data)," said Betty, adding that KPU partners with various parties, including the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN). Betty also said the Sirekap Mobile application is a necessary tool for election transparency so every citizen can access the voting results undisrupted and unrestricted.
