TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Local Muslim fashion designer Ayu Dyah Andari revealed that the fashion trend for Eid 2025 tends to lean towards an 'old money' style.
Currently, she said, people tend to choose clothes in a more conservative direction rather than showing their excessive uniqueness or expressive sides.
"The fashion trend for Eid 2025, from what I see, people are leaning towards simplicity, elegance, an old money style. The expressive side of people might be toned down. I see people leaning more towards this now, more conservative because it looks more expensive," Ayu said when asked by Tempo in Jakarta, Thursday, February 20, 2025.
She explained that this style emphasizes an elegant impression without being conspicuous, using safe colors such as brown, white, and blue, with a touch of maroon.
"Calm colors that don't want to say, 'hello, I'm here, look at me'. The old money style is for people who do not want to stand out too much in a crowd. They want to be noticed elegantly,' she said.
When it comes to clothing, the younger generation prefers top and bottom sets, while the older generation prefers dresses. "For young people, it's definitely tops and bottoms. Because I've dealt with several customers, most young people want pants, but their mothers want dresses," she said.
Furthermore, she added that the pashmina hijab model is still widely favored by women. "Certainly, people still like the pashmina. But now, people are increasingly fond of pashmina. I see from the demand in my own boutique that those who initially used the regular Paris hijab are now starting to request pashmina," she concluded.
