TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Health recorded that 500 thousand people across Indonesia have registered for the free health check program, as of Tuesday morning, March 11, 2025.
The Director General of Primary and Community Health, Maria Endang Sumiwi, said that individuals who have their birthdays later in the year—such as October, November, and December—have also registered.
"There are 500,000 registrants per December 2025,” Maria said after the 2025 National Women's Conference held in South Jakarta on Tuesday.
As of Saturday, March 8, health centers (Puskesmas) throughout the country have examined the health of 300 thousand individuals registered to the program, with most of them adults. The number of women also exceeded that of men.
Puskesmas in Indonesia are capable of conducting the free health check for 30 individuals per day. Thus, with over 10,000 puskesmas available across the country, the maximum quota for the program is 300 thousand individuals per day.
However, based on ministry data, there are only around 38 to 40 thousand people examined for the program everyday, as most people wait for their birthdays to register. “We can still accommodate more people,” she said.
The Health Ministry recently established a new provision for the program, which will allow the free health checks to be conducted all year long, instead of being dependent on someone's birthday. These provisions will come into effect this month.
“It remains a birthday gift (for citizens), but you can claim it anytime so long as the quota is available,” she said.
Siti Nadia Tarmizi, the director of Non-Communicable Disease Prevention and Control, confirmed that the provision has been in effect since Monday, March 10. Siti hoped more people would be aware of the change and could register for the program swiftly.
"Starting this March, the program no longer requires birth dates,” Siti said on March 4, as quoted from Antara. “The health checks can be done once a year for all citizens.”
Free health checks have been implemented since February 10, 2025, in all health centers in Indonesia. Prabowo’s administration previously described the program as a “birthday gift” for the Indonesian people.
