TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ari Dwipayana, the Coordinator of Presidential Special Staff, said the Ministry of State Secretariat is preparing various scenarios for President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s return to his hometown in Solo, Central Java, on October 20, 2024.
"We are preparing all sorts of scenarios. Whether he arrives by air travel through a commercial plane or on land,” he said on Friday.
Ari confirmed that the ministry has organized a commercial plane to take Jokowi back to Solo via Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, East Jakarta. However, he could not confirm who would accompany Jokowi back to Solo.
"We will see later how he will return to Solo. I believe he’s going with his spouse, Bu Iriana," he said.
Before stepping down from office tomorrow, Jokowi Jokowi thanked all ministers, deputy ministers, and agency heads in the Onward Indonesia Cabinet during a lunch at the State Palace on Friday.
Earlier, three sources close to the Palace revealed that Jokowi was initially scheduled to take a flight to Solo using a commercial airline at 03:00 p.m. from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. Through a minister, Jokowi had originally booked an economy-class seat.
However, on Monday, October 7, the plan changed. A source involved in arranging Jokowi's return trip mentioned that the former Jakarta Governor would board a non-commercial plane from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport.
Upon arrival in Solo, Jokowi will be welcomed by volunteers who have supported him since he became the mayor of Solo. Jokowi met with these volunteers at a restaurant in Jakarta some time ago. Jokowi also plans to visit various regions in Central Java, including Wonogiri.
Jokowi said there are no special events planned upon his arrival in Solo. "Just going home, on a plane, landing, then head home, that's it," said Jokowi after visiting the newly born daughter of his son, Kaesang Pangarep, and wife Erina Gudono, Bebingah Sang Tansahayu, on Wednesday evening.
