TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo is paying attention to the flow and mobility of people during the Christmas and New Year exodus (Nataru), which is expected to be busier than usual days. He urges field officers to be more vigilant against potential criminal activities and ensure the fulfillment of the public's needs.
"I urge you, because the traffic will be very congested, and the number of people is also very high, so I ask all the officers to be vigilant and anticipate any criminal issues," said Sigit after observing the Nataru exodus at Pasar Senen Station in Jakarta on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.
Sigit invites the public to utilize Nataru service posts if they encounter difficulties during their journey. "The service posts are available, and people who have any complaints can report them at the complaint posts," he said.
Sigit mentioned the estimated number of travelers, especially train passengers, is expected to continue to increase to hundreds of thousands. The highest increase in ticket purchases is predicted to occur on December 28, 2025.
In his statement, KAI Daop 1 Public Relations Officer, Franoto Wibowo, stated that the number of tickets sold for the Christmas and New Year Transportation (Nataru) period from December 18, 2025, to January 4, 2026, reached 598,972 tickets. This figure is equivalent to 86 percent occupancy of the 3.5 million seats provided.
On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 3:30 PM, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded a total of 48,235 train passengers leaving Jakarta. Meanwhile, the next day, 48,235 passengers will use the train, and 37,512 will arrive at Daop 1 Jakarta stations.
Meanwhile, Pasar Senen Station itself serves a total of 39 train journeys per day, consisting of 34 regular trains and 5 additional trains, with a capacity of 23,964 seats. On Monday, December 22, 2025, the number of departing passengers was recorded at 15,797 people, or 66 percent occupancy, while the number of arriving passengers reached 13,761 people, or 57 percent.
Sigit stated that for the Christmas and New Year security operation, they have deployed 234,000 personnel. They are divided into security posts and integrated posts containing other institutions that are also needed in Nataru services. "This is in addition to disaster activities," he added.
