TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police has deployed 1,516 personnel to secure the third round of the governor and deputy governor Jakarta candidate debate, which will take place on Sunday, November 17, 2024. This step is taken to ensure that the Jakarta Regional Election debate runs smoothly without any disruptions.
"We will ensure that all security aspects are well maintained and there are no threats that could disturb the event," said Head of Public Relations of Jakarta Metro Police, Police Grand Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi in his written statement on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
Jakarta Metro Police have coordinated with the Indonesian National Army (TNI) and various relevant parties to create effective security synergy. According to him, good coordination is crucial so that every situation development can be responded to quickly and accurately.
"Engage in effective communication with all parties so that every situation development can be responded to quickly and accurately. This is important to maintain security stability and have a positive impact on democracy in the Jakarta Metro Police jurisdiction," he said.
The police personnel on duty have been asked to maintain neutrality during the regional head election (Regional Election) process. "I remind all personnel not to engage in practical politics that lead to bias. Neutrality is crucial in creating public trust in the democratic process," said Ary.
On the other hand, Ary urged the public to actively participate in maintaining security and order during the Regional Election stages, including in candidate debates. "We urge the public to support the smooth running of this event by complying with regulations, maintaining order, and respecting political differences," he said.
With good security and cooperation between security forces and the public, the Jakarta governor and deputy governor candidate debate is expected to take place safely, orderly, and peacefully.
