TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Central Java Regional Police have yet to designate Aipda RZ, the police officer involved in the fatal shooting of a Vocational High School (SMK) student in Semarang, as a suspect. Chief of Public Relations of Central Java Regional Police Sr. Comr. Artanto stated that the victim's parents had reported the shooting incident to the police.
The police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into both ethical and criminal aspects of the case. “Officer RZ is under examination in the Police Professional Code of Ethics,” Artanto told Tempo on Thursday, November 28, 2024.
He mentioned that the General Crime Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) of the Central Java Regional Police is leading the criminal investigation, focusing on the actions of Aipda RZ. During the investigation, Aipda RZ, who is a member of the Semarang Resort Police's Narcotics Research Unit, has been placed under special detention.
Artanto claimed that the shooting occurred during the police’s attempt to break up a brawl, but the victim's family disputes this account. The tragic incident, which took place on Sunday, November 24, 2024, resulted in the death of GRO (17), a student from State Vocational High School 4 Semarang.
The police have questioned 12 witnesses, most of whom are minors. One individual, MPL (20), has been designated as a suspect in the brawl, while three others, DP (15), AND (15), and HRA (15), are facing legal consequences as minors.
