TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the Madukoro flyover in Semarang, Central Java, on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. The president emphasized that the flyover was built with public funds.
"I remind all for the umpteenth time that every rupiah of public funds must be used to the maximum for the people's interests," said Prabowo in his remarks at the inauguration of the Madukoro flyover.
Prabowo mentioned that this flyover is an infrastructure built with public funds. He expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Public Works and all parties involved in the construction.
According to Prabowo, infrastructure is crucial to enhance connectivity and streamline traffic flow. Consequently, he said, it can boost economic growth. He warned that all national infrastructure development must be efficient without neglecting quality.
"May this infrastructure, this facility, be beneficial and valuable not only for the people of Semarang but also for the people of Central Java," expressed Prabowo.
President Prabowo arrived at the inauguration site at around 10:00 a.m. accompanied by Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo and his staff, as well as other relevant officials.
The flyover located in the West Semarang District was constructed from April 2023 to May 2024, spending a total of Rp198.9 billion.
The Madukoro flyover stretches along 221 meters with a total length of 1,597 meters long and 19 meters wide. This flyover aims to alleviate traffic congestion, especially at the Arterial Intersection (Madukoro) on the North Coast of Java route, including towards Ahmad Yani Airport and Tanjung Mas Port. This flyover also supports national strategic tourism destinations such as Borobudur Temple, Yogyakarta, and Prambanan.
