TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) High-Level Conference in Peru was held on the 15th and 16th of November 2024 local time. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived at the Grupo 8 Alar Air Force Military Base, Jorge Chavez International Airport, Lima, Peru, on Wednesday, the 13th of November 2024, around 10:35 local time.
Prabowo departed from the Andrews Military Base, Washington DC, United States, around 2:00 PM local time. While in Washington DC, President Prabowo had several meetings, including with U.S. President Joe Biden at the White House.
The theme and priorities of APEC Peru 2024 are 'Empower, Include, Grow.' This includes trade and investment for inclusive and interconnected growth, innovation and digitalization to drive the transition towards a formal and global economy, as well as sustainable growth for resilient development.
Trade Minister Budi Santoso, who will accompany Prabowo at the APEC Summit meetings, mentioned that Indonesia will support this group in strengthening the multilateral system.

"In this meeting, Indonesia is committed to supporting the World Trade Organization (WTO) and encouraging APEC to strengthen the multilateral trade system," Budi said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday.
As part of the APEC 2024 Summit, Prabowo attended several bilateral meetings, including on the first day with Peruvian President Dina Boluarte, and also had a morning meal with Australian PM Anthony Albanese.
On the second day, Prabowo also held bilateral meetings with the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Luong Cuong, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, and New Zealand PM Christopher Luxon.
The agenda of these bilateral meetings in the framework of the APEC 2024 Summit aims to discuss steps to strengthen trade relations, increase investment, and explore new mutually beneficial cooperation.
The APEC 2024 Summit in Lima was also an important opportunity for Indonesia to advocate for inclusive trade that benefits not only large countries but also small and developing economies in the Asia-Pacific region.
President Prabowo, along with other world leaders, also attended the APEC Economic Gala Dinner 2024 at the Presidential Palace in Peru, Palacio De Gobierno, Lima, Peru, on Friday, the 15th of November 2024.
Prabowo arrived punctually at 7:00 PM local time in accordance with the invitation, dressed in a dark suit and black fez. According to a press release received in Jakarta on Saturday, during the event, Prabowo mingled with other world leaders. In addition to Prabowo, US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping were also present.
Prabowo shook hands with US President Joe Biden while chatting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who was wearing a gray suit. "We had a good conversation," Trudeau said to Prabowo and Biden.
During the occasion, Prabowo was also seen shaking hands with Chinese President Xi Jinping while chatting. Xi Jinping was dressed in a black suit and tie.
President Prabowo also posed together, holding hands with the leaders of Southeast Asian countries, including Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Vietnamese President Liong Cuong, and Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra. The pose demonstrated the solidarity among Southeast Asian countries at the APEC 2024 Summit.
