TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto plans to gather elected regional heads for a retreat. Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra said it would be similar to the cabinet retreat held in Magelang on Oct. 24-27 last year.
"All regional heads will be gathered to create the same perception of the problems faced by the government," Yusril said at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday, Jan. 10.
According to the minister, there must be synchronization between central and regional policies. It is hoped that regional governments will implement the central government's program.
The schedule for the retreat will depend on the schedule for the inauguration of regional head-elects. Therefore, the government is currently planning for the regional head-elect inauguration. Minister Yusril and State Secretariat Minister Prasetyo Hadi met at the State Palace today, January 10, to discuss the plan.
The government plans to inaugurate regional leaders who are not in dispute first. Yusril said the government is waiting for the Constitutional Court's decision on elected regional heads in dispute. "The government wants it to be smooth, [and let] the dispute continue in the Constitutional Court," he said.
According to Yusril, two Constitutional Court decisions could be used as the base to perform the inauguration. Yet, he did not elaborate.
At the "Red and White Cabinet Retreat" in Magelang, ministers, deputy ministers, heads of agencies, special envoys, and special presidential staff received training in the form of materials on state and government, including important materials on the prevention of corruption.
