TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy House Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad stated that President Prabowo Subianto will inspect the disaster response in Aceh on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. Dasco mentioned this information at the start of a coordination meeting for the disaster recovery task force in Aceh on Tuesday, October 30, 2025.
"Today's coordination meeting was held considering that the President is scheduled to visit Aceh tomorrow," Dasco said as monitored on the House of Representatives' YouTube channel.
The chair of the Gerindra Party's central board explained that the coordination meeting was held to ensure the 2026 disaster recovery budget is used for its intended purpose. "With the hope that in the 2026 budget, post-disaster recovery can proceed as it should," he said.
The meeting was also held to coordinate the tasks of regional governments with ministries and agencies in disaster response in Sumatra. Coordination was carried out to ensure that disaster management could be focused.
"Our friends from the TNI (military), Polri (police), regional governments, and volunteers have worked hard, so in this post-disaster recovery, we need to coordinate together to focus on the issues to be addressed," Dasco said.
Based on data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) as of Tuesday, December 30, 2025, the disaster resulted in approximately 1,141 deaths and 163 missing persons. According to the BNPB, around 399,200 disaster victims have been displaced thus far. The disaster also caused more than 166,000 houses and thousands of public facilities, health facilities, educational institutions, and bridges to be damaged.
Meanwhile, Prabowo Subianto had previously announced his intention to visit disaster areas in Sumatra once a week. The head of state wants to monitor the developments in disaster management. "I plan to visit the area at least once a week to monitor the progress," he said during a plenary Cabinet session at the State Palace, Central Jakarta, on Monday, December 15, 2025.
