TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto announced that the government will waive the loans of People's Business Credit (KUR) for farmers in Aceh affected by floods and landslides.
"And the loans of KUR, because this is a natural condition, yes, we will erase," said Prabowo during a press conference while inspecting the Bailey bridge at Teupin Mane, Bireuen Regency, Aceh, on Sunday, December 7, 2025.
According to Prabowo, the waiver of KUR loans granted due to a disaster is a force majeure. Farmers do not need to worry about their ability to repay the loans.
Prabowo explained that efforts to accelerate the recovery of flood- and landslide-affected areas are ongoing. This includes repairing bridges, which are expected to reopen within one to two weeks.
The president also received reports from residents affected by the damaged dams and rice fields. The Head of State emphasized that the Government is committed to rehabilitating the agricultural land and ensuring food supply remains intact by sending supplies from other areas while local production has not fully recovered.
"Farmers do not need to worry if their rice fields are damaged, we will help to repair them, that is our priority. Also, while the production has not fully recovered, we will send food from elsewhere; our reserves are still abundant," said Prabowo.
As part of his visit to inspect the flood-affected areas in Aceh Province, the Head of State inspected the construction of the Bailey bridge at Teupin Mane as a vital link connecting Bireuen and Takengon in Central Aceh.
Spanning 30 meters, the temporary bridge has become an important lifeline, restoring land access that was cut off by severe flooding and strong river currents.
Upon arrival at the location, Prabowo immediately inspected the construction site located on the edge of the river. The President closely observed the operation of heavy machinery, from excavators to loaders, working tirelessly to strengthen the foundation and rock fill as the bridge's abutment.
"Here, we are looking at one of the Bailey bridges under construction. They are working continuously, it is expected to be opened within a week, and from here, we can continue to open three more bridges leading to Bener Meriah and Takengon," said the President.
The Head of State emphasized that the government is mobilizing all available resources to restore logistical access and community movement as soon as possible.
