TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police will deploy thousands of joint personnel from the National Police (Polri), military (TNI), and related agencies, to secure the second debate event of the Jakarta gubernatorial election on Sunday, October 27, 2024.
"The number of personnel to be deployed is 1,890 personnel," said North Jakarta Police Chief, Sr. Comsr. Ahmad Fuady in a written statement quoted on Saturday, October 26, 2024.
In addition, the police will also deploy the K9 unit or sniffer dogs for security. This unit will be used to sterilize the debate area. "This is part of the standard operating procedure," Ahmad said.
Meanwhile, traffic diversion will be implemented on a situational basis, depending on the conditions on the field. The police will continue to coordinate the rules for entering and leaving the Ancol area, where the debate will be held.
The Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPU) has announced a change of venue for the second debate of the Jakarta gubernatorial election. Originally, the debate was scheduled to be held at Ecovention Ancol on Sunday, October 27, 2024, but it was moved to the Beach City International Stadium.
The theme of this second debate will be Economy and Social Welfare. This overarching theme will be divided into six sub-themes, namely integrated infrastructure and basic services, education and health, addressing social inequalities, digital economic development and SMEs, tourism and the creative economy, and staple food inflation.
