TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) reported a rise in passenger and flight movements at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. The increase covers the 2025 Christmas holiday period from December 15 to 22.

"Until today, Monday, December 22, 2025, the movement of passengers and flights continues to show an increasing trend," said Heru Karyadi, General Manager of the Soekarno-Hatta Main Branch Office, on Monday.

Heru stated that from December 15 to 21, the airport served 1,182,490 passengers with 7,811 flights. During normal times, the airport averages around 177,000 passengers per day.

Officials are monitoring the data as numbers continue to climb. This Monday has the potential to become one of the busiest days of the entire Christmas holiday period. The surge started over the weekend, with high traffic recorded on both Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday, December 21, the airport handled 1,158 flights and 174,684 passengers.

Heru added that the peak for the New Year 2026 holiday is expected on December 28, 2025. On that day, the airport predicts 1,141 flights and 181,888 passengers. Meanwhile, the peak for return traffic after the holidays is likely to occur on January 4, 2026.

During this period, the most popular domestic destinations are Denpasar, Surabaya, Makassar, Kualanamu, and Palembang. International travel is led by Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Other busy routes include Jeddah, Don Mueang, and Penang. The airport has prepared for this mobility since operations began on December 15.

Heru stated that the airport is managing the high volume through better coordination, ready facilities, and service focus at all terminals. "We continue to ensure smooth airport services during the 2025 Christmas Transport and New Year 2026 period," Heru stated.

Operational readiness includes working with other agencies and staying ready for external factors like bad weather. Heru urged travelers to stay updated on flight info from airlines. He also advised passengers to expect schedule changes due to weather and to keep travel times flexible.

To help travel run smoothly, the airport encourages passengers to arrive early. Using online check-in and checking travel documents before leaving home can save time during peak hours. These steps help reduce crowding at the counters.

The airport also runs service posts in each terminal to give help and fast answers to travelers. This effort aims to keep operations reliable and services high. The goal is to ensure that public air travel during the 2025/2026 holiday period is safe, orderly, and comfortable for everyone.
