TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A publicly traded company operating the coffee chain Starbucks, PT MAP Boga Adiperkasa Tbk. (MAPB), suffered a loss of Rp108.69 billion until the end of September 2025. According to the financial report for the third quarter of 2025 released by MAPB on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, this loss increased by 37.3 percent compared to the same period last year, amounting to Rp79.13 billion.

Meanwhile, sales and business income also decreased to Rp2.35 trillion at the end of September 2025. MAPB recorded sales and business income of Rp2.42 trillion in September 2024.

MABP has seven other subsidiary companies, namely PT Sari Sandwhich Indonesia (Subway), PT Sari Ice Cream Indonesia (Cold Stone Creamery, Godiva), PT Premier Doughnut Indonesia (Krispy Kreme, Toast Box), PT Agung Mandiri Lestari (Genki Sushi), PT Sari Food Lestari (Paul Bakery), and PT Roti Boga Adiperkasa.

Starbucks closed 11 of its branches in the first quarter of 2025 as a result of a boycott movement. This boycott movement emerged after the company was accused of being involved in the genocide committed by Israel. Before the boycott, Starbucks had been opening 70-80 branches each year.

Corporate Secretary of PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk. Eva Andrianie previously stated that the boycott forced the company to reduce the number of branch openings to 10-15 stores per year. Last year, Starbucks also closed 11 stores. "In the first quarter of this year, we also closed 11 stores due to the lingering impact of the boycott," she said in an information disclosure on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, cited on Friday, July 4, 2025.

Eva said that over the past year, the company's coffee shop had faced significant challenges. These challenges, according to Eva, were not due to operational issues, but rather misinformation linking Starbucks to the conflict in Israel.

She also denied Starbucks' involvement in the conflict. "We emphasize that Starbucks does not have any stores, employees, or operational activities in Israel, and that has been the case since 2008," she said.
