TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The weather in Jakarta today, Saturday, July 12, 2025, is predicted to be predominantly sunny, especially in the mainland areas. Meanwhile, Kepulauan Seribu are expected to be cloudy. According to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), there is no potential for rain today.
The same applies to the surrounding areas of Jakarta. BMKG predicts predominantly sunny weather in Bogor City, South Tangerang City, as well as Bekasi Regency and City. Some places will be partly cloudy, namely Depok City, Tangerang City, and Bogor Regency, while Tangerang Regency is expected to be predominantly cloudy.
Previously, in the Weekly Weather Outlook for July 11-17, 2025, BMKG did state a high potential for rain covering most of the areas in Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua. The existence of equatorial waves, such as Rossby and Kelvin, as well as atmospheric dynamics in the form of wind convergence and wind confluence, significantly contributes to the formation of convective clouds and potential rain in these areas.
Erma Yulihastin, a researcher at the Center for Climate and Atmosphere Research of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), also stated that sunny and dry weather is mainly occurring in Java, entering the second ten-day period of this month. According to her statement on Friday evening, this condition is influenced by the growth of four tropical cyclone seeds in the sea north of the Philippines.
A cyclone or cyclone seed is a low-pressure center that draws air masses from other regions to itself. Due to the sunny and dry weather, Erma added, "Some areas in the mountains (in Indonesia, especially in Java) even experience frost due to the freezing temperatures."
