2. Body of Indonesian Migrant Worker Victim of Fire in Istanbul Repatriated to Indonesia
The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Istanbul has facilitated the repatriation of the body of an Indonesian Migrant Worker (PMI) with the initials 'SW' (35) who died due to a fire at the hotel where she worked in Atasehir, Istanbul, on January 18, 2025. The body of the deceased was repatriated to Indonesia on Tuesday afternoon, February 4, 2025, by Turkish Airlines.
The deceased SW left for Turkey procedurally and had worked in the country for approximately four months since August 2024. Prior to the incident, the deceased had worked as a domestic worker, then switched to being a spa therapist at two different hotels before working for one week at The Hera Business Hotel & Spa, where the fire occurred. The Indonesian Consulate General in Istanbul received information from fellow PMI who worked at the hotel regarding an Indonesian citizen who was a victim of the fire who died.
3. Indonesia Denies Agreement to Accept Released Palestinian Prisoners
A spokesperson for the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rolliansyah Soemirat, has refuted claims of an agreement to accept Palestinian prisoners released by Israel. He emphasized that no communication has occurred between Indonesia and Hamas regarding the matter.
“Until now, there has been no official communication through diplomatic channels between Indonesia and related parties regarding this issue,” Roy said in a written statement on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
