1. Prabowo to Visit Disaster-Affected Areas in Sumatra Ahead of New Year

President Prabowo Subianto plans to inspect disaster management efforts in Sumatra before the start of 2026. This was conveyed by the State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Central Jakarta, on Monday, December 29, 2025. "It's planned like that," he said.

However, the presidential spokesperson has not yet specified the locations that Prabowo will visit. Previously, Prabowo had planned to visit Sumatra's disaster locations weekly. The head of state wants to monitor the development of disaster management.

2. Labor Unions to Stage Two-Day Protest Rejecting 2026 Minimum Wage

The Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) will hold a protest to reject the determination of the 2026 provincial minimum wage (UMP). Thousands of workers will carry out the demonstration for two consecutive days on December 29 and 30, 2025, at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta.

KSPI President, Said Iqbal, stated that the main issue of the workers' protest is the rejection of the UMP increase and the demand for the implementation of the sectoral minimum wage above the Jakarta Living Cost Standard (KHL). They also reject the determination of the Sectoral Minimum Wage for Regencies/Cities (UMSK) throughout West Java.

The December 29 protest is expected to be attended by around 1,000 workers, gathering at Patung Kuda at 10:00 AM. On December 30, the demonstration will be attended by a minimum of 10,000 workers, with plans for a convoy of 10,000 to 20,000 motorcycles from various regions of West Java to Jakarta.
