TEMPO.CO - Based on the weather forecast from Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), Jakarta and its surrounding areas are potentially going to experience rain on Sunday morning and later in the afternoon, November 9, 2025. Early warnings of rain, which may be accompanied by thunder and strong winds, are targeted for parts of South Jakarta, East Jakarta, Tangerang City, South Tangerang City, as well as the Regencies and Cities of Bogor.

With air humidity ranging from 68-98 percent, the weather throughout the day in Jakarta and its surrounding areas is likely to be heavily overcast with a chance of rain. According to the 24-hour weather forecast from BMKG, until around 14:00 WIB (Western Indonesian Time), the weather will still be heavily overcast with the potential for light rain in parts of South Jakarta, East Jakarta, and South Tangerang City.

The same forecast applies to Depok City, the Regencies and Cities of Bogor, as well as the Regencies and Cities of Bekasi. By around 19:00 WIB, light rain is likely to fall in most parts of Tangerang City, South Tangerang City, and the Regencies and Cities of Bogor.

The air temperature in the Jakarta Greater Area is expected to range from 24-30 degrees Celsius, while the temperature in Bogor City and Regency is lower, ranging from 20-28 degrees Celsius.

Over the past few days, heavily overcast weather has been dominant in Jakarta and its surrounding areas. Many regions have once again experienced heat due to the overcast weather without rain, only accompanied by strong winds.

Based on the Weekly Weather Outlook released by BMKG on November 6, the potential for the growth of rain clouds in various regions of Indonesia remains significant for the upcoming week. This is due, among other factors, to the warming of the eastern part of the Indian Ocean, near the Indonesian region. This increase supports the formation of rain clouds in that area.

Meanwhile, the weak La Nina phenomenon indicates an increase in the supply of water vapor from the Pacific Ocean to Indonesia. There are also factors such as the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO), equatorial Rossby and Kelvin waves, as well as the Tropical Cyclone Fung-Wong in the eastern Pacific Ocean near the Philippines.

Additionally, there is cyclonic circulation in the southwest waters of Banten, west of Bengkulu, and the southern part of Maluku. This cyclonic circulation is observed to form convergence and confluence areas in the waters of West Sumatra to Lampung, in the Sunda Strait, in the southern waters of Banten, in the Arafura Sea, in the Aru Sea, and in the Maluku Islands.
