TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - This year's annual publication of the Henley Passport Index was recently unveiled, ranking all 199 of the world's most powerful passports in 2025 based on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Associate (IATA). Combining the world's most accurate travel database with the organization's research, the index took into account each country's political stability and climate issues to determine their global mobility.
Several countries fell in this year's report, with the U.S. once again failing to reclaim its first and second spots after a decade. Let's see the full snapshot of the world's strongest and weakest passports in 2025.
List of the Most Powerful Passports in 2025
According to the Henley Passport Index, these are the most powerful passports in 2025 that grant visa-free travel convenience to more than 100 countries across the globe.
- Singapore - 195 countries
- Japan - 193 countries
- Finland, France, Germany, Italy, South Korea, and Spain - 192 countries
- Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden - 191 countries
- Belgium, New Zealand, Portugal, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom - 190 countries
- Australia and Greece - 189 countries
- Canada, Malta, and Poland - 188 countries
- Czechia and Hungary - 187 countries
- Estonia and the United States - 186 countries
- Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia, and United Arab Emirates - 185 countries
Singapore remains the world's most powerful passport in 2025, with visa-free access to 195 of the 227 global destinations on the Henley Passport Index list. Following in second place, Japanese citizens now hold the world's second most powerful passport in 2025, with access to 193 countries without a prior visa.
European nations France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, which shared the top spot in 2024, have recently seen a collective drop to third place alongside South Korea and Finland, with flexible mobility to 192 countries.
The UAE's inclusion in the top ten most powerful passports in 2025 makes it the first and only Arab country to achieve this status. Having secured access to 72 additional countries since 2015, the nation now enjoys visa-free travel to 185 destinations.
Conversely, the world's two giant economies, the United States and the United Kingdom, are struggling to regain their previous top-ranking status of the past decade.

Of all the 227 countries included in the Henley Passport Index publication, multiple countries grapple with the inconvenience of outbound tourism, having only visa-free access to 43 destinations or even less.
