TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourist spots in Bantul, Yogyakarta, are prohibited from raising prices or entrance fees. The Bantul District Tourism Office has issued a circular instructing tourist attraction managers to clearly display prices, especially during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Head of Bantul District Tourism Office, Saryadi, in Bantul, said on Thursday that the circular is a precautionary measure to prevent businesses from imposing excessively high prices or fees that burden tourists for the sake of immediate profits. "We have issued a circular and conveyed it to all tourism stakeholders, destination managers, and associations to inform, among other things, the technical details of the services they provide, including prices," he said.

This policy has been socialized through the District Tourism Office's social media channels. Authorities also provide a complaint service for tourists who receive services that do not adhere to the regulations. "Just report it on our social media or our official email at Jelajah Bantul, on the Bantul District Tourism Office website, or through the District Government's complaint service," he said.

Bantul's Tourism Image

These regulations have been implemented to maintain Bantul's tourism image and promote sustainable tourism. If tourism businesses are found seeking immediate profits by taking advantage of the year-end holidays, the local government will provide guidance.

"If found, we will provide guidance because it tarnishes the tourism image and gives a deterrent for visitors to come again. It is very detrimental for the future; seeking immediate profits may bring in substantial gains, but it is not good for sustainable tourism," he said.

Meanwhile, in response to improving services for tourists, they have increased the number of personnel on duty at the regional tourism retribution points during the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year holidays.

"As a precaution for the potential surge in the number of tourists during the Nataru (Christmas and New Year) period, we have increased the personnel at the retribution points from 40 collection officers to approximately 120," he said.

Bantul has several popular tourist destinations, among them Parangtritis Beach, Parangkusumo Beach, Gumuk Pasir, pine forests, and Cemara Cave Beach.
