TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (Persero) will increase the capacity of Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport from 24 million passengers per year to 32 million passengers per year. State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir said the capacity of the primary airport on the Island of the Gods is being increased through optimization and spatial recomposition.
"The key is to optimize what is already there," said Erick, as quoted in an official statement on Friday, November 22, 2024.
In addition to capacity addition, Angkasa Pura Indonesia or InJourney Airports, is currently revitalizing the infrastructure and services of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport. The company is striving to anticipate the growing trend of passenger and aircraft movements and enhance service quality to airport users.
According to InJourney Airports records, passenger movements at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport continue to increase. Until October 2024, the airport served 20 million passengers, up 13 percent from 17.7 million passengers in October 2023.
The optimization of Ngurai Rai Airport's infrastructure is divided into two areas: the passenger terminal and the landside area. InJourney Airports is restructuring the design and layout of the passenger terminal. InJourney Airports' CEO, Faik Fahmi, predicts that the volume of passengers passing through Ngurah Rai Airport will reach 23.6 million people by December.
"The revitalization and optimization of this airport is carried out so that the service to airport users remains optimal amidst traffic growth trends," said Faik Fahmi.
