TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia sets a target of 9 million Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) transactions in the Bangka Belitung Province. This goal aligns with the significant growth of QRIS users and merchants in the area.
Deputy Head of Bank Indonesia's Representative Office in the Bangka Belitung Province, Farid Tamsil, stated that QRIS transactions up to the second quarter of 2025 have reached 3,586,400 transactions with a total of 175,071 merchants.
"The total value of transactions up to the second quarter has reached Rp412.16 billion. The growth in the number of users and merchants has skyrocketed by 91.65 percent compared to last year. By the end of the year, we target 9 million transaction volumes and 196,000 merchants," said Farid during Bank Indonesia's media discussion program in Pangkalpinang on Monday, August 11, 2025.
Farid mentioned that the area with the highest QRIS users in Bangka Belitung is the city of Pangkalpinang, followed by the Bangka Regency, Central Bangka Regency, Belitung Regency, West Bangka Regency, South Bangka Regency, and the lowest is in East Belitung Regency.
"There are 219,217 people who are users. There is still a lot of potential to expand QRIS acceptance both from the user and transaction sides to move towards quality stages, of course, with the support of strengthening literacy regarding the benefits and security of transactions," he added.
To increase QRIS users and transactions, Farid stated that the Bank Indonesia will hold the QRIS Shopping and Tax Festivals and educate consumers on non-cash payment systems from August 11 to 17, 2025.
"This event will be held simultaneously in 46 Bank Indonesia Domestic Representative Offices, packaged in the National QRIS Week (PQN). In Bangka Belitung, 45 culinary MSME merchants have been selected together with 9 banks and spread across all regencies and cities in Bangka Belitung," he said.
