TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Conducting stunting prevention actions for the victims of the Sumatra flood disaster is important. "Stunting prevention is a long-term process that requires changes in nutritional and health behavior at the family and community levels," said BCA's EVP Corporate Communication and Social Responsibility, Hera F. Haryn, in a press release received by Tempo on December 28, 2025.
Previously, Bakti BCA held the "Let's Prevent Stunting" (LPS) campaign in Nagari Guguak, Padang Pariaman District, West Sumatra, Indonesia, on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. The hope is that this activity can focus on strengthening the capacity and independence of the community, from the pregnancy period to adolescence. "Hopefully, this effort can raise awareness and create changes in community behavior regarding holistic stunting prevention," she said.
This activity aims to strengthen community-based stunting prevention. It is also an important momentum to strengthen joint commitments in promoting sustainable nutritional and health behavioral changes at the family and community levels.
The Let's Prevent Stunting program has been implemented since 2024 through stages of mapping the condition and potential of the area, as the basis for designing community-based interventions. The program then focused on strengthening the foundation through increasing community capacity, involving local champions, and various educational activities that encourage nutritional and health behavior changes at the family and community levels.
In 2025, the LPS program continued with more comprehensive strengthening, including capacity building for cadres, utilizing digital systems to support program monitoring, and strengthening the role of adolescents as agents of spreading positive messages related to nutrition and health. In addition to Nagari Guguak, the LPS campaign was also conducted in Taman Indah Village, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.
This time, there is also a monitoring dashboard for the Let's Prevent Stunting program. This dashboard was developed as a digital system that allows posyandu cadres and health workers to record, monitor, and analyze child growth more quickly and accurately. With simple data visualization features, the dashboard helps to detect stunting risks early, while providing a comprehensive overview of the nutritional conditions at the village level. "The presence of this dashboard is expected to be a breakthrough that strengthens collaboration between the community, health workers, and local government, so that interventions can be more targeted," said Hera.
In addition to strengthening monitoring systems, Bakti BCA also distributed two units of fetal monitors, each to the Kayu Tanam Community Health Center in Nagari Guguak, Padang Pariaman, West Sumatra, and the Pringgarata Community Health Center in Taman Indah Village, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. The hope is that this could strengthen the monitoring of pregnant women's health in both intervention areas. The presence of fetal monitors is expected to help health workers conduct more optimal fetal condition examinations, improve the quality of pregnancy monitoring, and support early detection of potential risks during pregnancy.
This activity also involved an invitation to take iron-folic acid tablets, as well as appreciation and certificates for those actively involved in the program, from local champions, posyandu cadres, to participants in the Isi Piringku in Pekaranganku and Remaja Lapangan Sekolah programs. Participants in the Remaja Lapangan Sekolah program were also appointed as Adolescent Stunting Ambassadors, as a form of strengthening the role of young generations in spreading positive messages related to nutrition, health, stunting prevention, and healthy lifestyles in their environment.
As part of the activities, program participants also showcased various good practices resulting from field implementations. This showcase included the results of food plots from the use of yard land such as eggplant, papaya, tomatoes, chilies, celery, as well as healthy menu presentations according to balanced nutrition standards for toddlers, pregnant women, and adolescents. Through this activity, the community shared experiences and learning about contextual stunting prevention efforts and in line with local potentials. "The LPS program focuses on strengthening the capacity and independence of the community. Therefore, LPS complements the government's intervention in ensuring that nutritional and health behavioral changes can be sustained at the family and community levels," said Hera F. Haryn.
"Through the LPS program, we focus on strengthening community capacity and independence, from the pregnancy period to adolescence," said Hera.
