TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto arrived at the Nusantara Building in Jakarta's Parliament Complex on Friday morning, August 15, 2025. He was scheduled to deliver the State Address at the annual session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the House of Representatives (DPR) at approximately 10:00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
The white Maung vehicle carrying Prabowo arrived at about 8:35 a.m. He was greeted by Siti Fauziah, the Secretary-General of the MPR, at the entrance to the plenary meeting room.
President Prabowo's Attire
Prabowo's choice of clothing was a notable departure from tradition. Unlike previous presidents, who typically wore traditional attire to this event, Prabowo opted for a gray suit paired with a white shirt, a light blue tie, and a black peci (a traditional cap).
In 2024, for instance, former President Jokowi wore traditional Betawi clothing.
Prabowo, the General Chair of the Gerindra Party, then walked the red carpet before entering the session room.
Other Dignitaries Present
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka had arrived earlier at 8:20 a.m. Former presidents Jokowi and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, along with former vice presidents Ma'ruf Amin and Try Sutrisno, were also in attendance.
Several ministers were present, including Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment and Chair of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Zulkifli Hasan, and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.
President's State Addresses
The annual session began at 9:00 a.m., and Prabowo was set to deliver two separate addresses. "President Prabowo will deliver two state addresses," said Hasan Nasbi, Head of the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), at his office in the Kwarnas Building on Thursday, August 14, 2025.
The first address, at the annual MPR session, would highlight the government's performance over its first 300 days, nearly 10 months since his inauguration in October 2024.
The second address, delivered to the DPR at approximately 2:30 p.m., would introduce the draft State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) for 2026.
Hasan encouraged the public to follow both addresses through various media channels, in accordance with the guidelines for commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. These guidelines were released by State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi on August 12, 2025.
