TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Disaster Mitigation Agency, or BNPB, recorded that 20,629 residents were affected and 3,464 residents were evacuated due to floods and landslides in several districts in Sukabumi since Tuesday, December 3, 2024.

The head of BNPB's Data, Information, and Disaster Management Center, Abdul Muhari, said that the data was collected on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 7:00 a.m. West Indonesia Time. The collected data shows that the number of affected residents increased by 10,455 and the number of evacuees increased by 476 people spread across 184 villages in 39 districts in the Sukabumi region.

"This change can occur because the data is still very dynamic," Abdul Muhari said in his written statement, on Thursday, December 12, 2024.

In addition, 1,605 houses were reported to have minor damage, 1,829 houses were moderately damaged, and 2,058 houses had major damage. Abdul Muhari said that data collection is underway for the repair and relocation efforts.

Meanwhile, the search for two missing victims named Eros and Ojang is still ongoing. Abdul said the emergency response period has been extended by seven days from December 11 to December 17, 2024.

BNPB chief Lt. Gen. Suharyanto visited Sukabumi again on Wednesday to make sure that the logistical supplies were sufficient to meet the basic needs of the evacuees.
