TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Garuda Indonesia Group is preparing approximately 1.4 million seats for flights during the Christmas and New Year holidays from December 20, 2024, to January 5, 2025. The total includes 741,514 seats for Garuda Indonesia and 717,560 seats for Citilink.
To meet this demand, Garuda Indonesia will operate 4,028 flights while Citilink will operate 4,171 flights. Both airlines will operate 93 aircraft during this period.
In addition to the fleet, PT Garuda Indonesia President Director Wamildan Tsani Panjaitan explained the operational preparations for the Christmas and New Year holidays. These include monitoring the Operations Control Center, ensuring cabin and cockpit crew readiness, maintaining service standards, educating passengers, setting up emergency response posts, and improving ground service infrastructure.
"We make sure that both Garuda and Citilink have enough cabin and cockpit crews," Wamildan said during a press conference at the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises building in Central Jakarta on Friday, December 6, 2024.
In addition, Garuda Indonesia is preparing 49 domestic routes and 19 international routes for this Christmas and New Year holiday season. Meanwhile, Citilink will offer 73 domestic routes and 5 international routes.
Meanwhile, InJourney President Director Maya Watono projected a 4.52% increase in passenger traffic at InJourney airports during the Christmas and New Year holiday period compared to last year. This includes an estimated 23.2% increase in international passenger traffic to 2.2 million passengers in 2024 from 1.79 million passengers last year. Domestic passenger traffic is expected to reach 6 million passengers in 2024.
In addition, aircraft movements during the Christmas and New Year period are expected to decrease by 2.84% compared to the previous year.
However, international aircraft movements are expected to increase by 15.4% to 12,965 movements in 2024 from 11,227 movements in the previous year.
