TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The potential merger between tech giants PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GoTo) and Grab is still actively progressing, according to Rosan Roeslani, Indonesia's Minister of Investment, Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), and CEO of Danantara Indonesia.
"It's still ongoing," Rosan stated after meeting President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Thursday, November 27, 2025.
He indicated that while there is no final decision yet regarding the unification of the two companies, the process is showing positive momentum. "Positive, the signals are positive," he remarked.
Earlier this month, Pandu Sjahrir, Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Danantara Indonesia, emphasized that the final decision rests entirely with GoTo and Grab, focusing on the fundamental business-to-business (B2B) aspects.
"The government also provides input. We definitely follow the government's input. But the most important thing is the B2B aspect," Pandu said on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Danantara Building in Jakarta.
Danantara's continued support is contingent on the merger generating financial profitability. Pandu stressed, "Because the commercial return aspect is also important. So, we have to maintain that."
The planned merger was also acknowledged by State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, who noted that discussions on the merger are part of a broader review concerning the draft of a Presidential Regulation (Perpres) related to online motorcycle taxis or locally known online ojek.
Prasetyo confirmed that Danantara would be involved in the companies' consolidation process, which is currently in the stage of determining its structure, whether it will take the form of a merger or an acquisition.
Despite the official involvement and positive signals from the government, R A Koesoemohadiani, Corporate Secretary of PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk, maintained the company’s official stance: "The company conveys that there is no decision or agreement made regarding this matter up to this point."
