TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Director General of Taxation (DGT), Bimo Wijayanto, revealed that a specialized task force has been formed to prepare for the full management of the Coretax system following its official handover from the vendor.
According to the contract, the handover from the LG CNS-Qualysoft Consortium is scheduled for December 15, 2025.
Bimo stated that the task force, comprising top DGT personnel, is currently undergoing intensive training. "24 of our programmers, whom we selected as the best, are undergoing a one-month boot camp or acceleration training to master the source code that we have obtained," he said.
The DGT had previously received the source code twice from the vendor, on July 14 and November 17, 2025. After the final handover, Coretax will be entirely managed by the DGT, including incident resolution, bug fixing, and other maintenance matters.
Bimo asserted that Coretax represents a fundamental transformation compared to the previous system due to its integrated nature. He highlighted that Coretax integrates core tax processes, such as registration, payment, reporting, and legal efforts, into a single platform.
"Ultimately, we expect an increase in access convenience and efficiency for fulfilling tax obligations and, of course, a lower cost of compliance," Bimo added, noting that this integration simplifies various business processes for taxpayers.
The new system has faced previous implementation hurdles. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa had previously admitted that improving the Coretax system could not be completed within the initial one-month timeline.
Purbaya explained in an October 24, 2025, press conference that the delays were partly due to the working contract with the consortium, which limited the Ministry of Finance's access to certain parts of the system.
"This is a project that has been built for four years with various obstacles," Purbaya said. "But I am confident that once full access is handed over to us, everything can be completed by January next year. The security system and infrastructure will also be sufficiently capable."
