TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The U-17 Indonesian national team will play nine trial matches against various teams before the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar from November 3 to 27, 2025. "We have scheduled nine trial matches before heading to the World Cup. Through these various trials, we hope the team will become more cohesive and mature," said U-17 national team coach, Nova Arianto, in Medan on Monday, August 11, 2025.
According to Nova, the trial matches will help mature the team, including those in the Independence Cup held at the Utama Sumatra Utara Stadium, Batang Kuis, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, from August 12 to 18, 2025. He expressed his appreciation to the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) for facilitating quality trial match opponents for his team as part of the preparation for the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Participating in the 2025 Independence Cup is indeed part of the preparation roadmap that he has developed with PSSI. "We have scheduled nine trial matches before heading to the World Cup, and once again, I express my gratitude to PSSI. We have the opportunity to play in the Independence Cup, which features very competitive opponents. There are Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Mali," he said.
The 2025 Independence Cup will last for a week. Four countries will compete, namely Indonesia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Mali. The first match will take place on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, between Mali and Uzbekistan at 16:30 WIB (Indonesian Western Time), followed by Indonesia against Tajikistan at 19:30 WIB.
On Friday, August 15, 2025, Tajikistan will play against Mali at 15:30 WIB, while Uzbekistan will face Indonesia at 19:30 WIB. On the last day, Monday, August 18, 2025, Indonesia will conclude the tournament by playing against Mali at 20:30 WIB. Before this match, Uzbekistan will challenge Tajikistan at 16:00 WIB.
Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Mali are three countries that are also participants in the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup. The U-17 Indonesian national team, which previously underwent training in Bali, is in Group H along with Brazil, Honduras, and Zambia.
