TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Head of the Land Bank Agency, Parman Nataatmadja, stated that Land Bank is currently focusing on providing at least 30 percent of land for agrarian reform. Three locations are used for the program, he mentioned.
These locations include North Penajam Paser with an area of 1,883 hectares, Poso with 1,550 hectares, and Cianjur with 203 hectares.
"The closest point of execution for the agrarian reform is in North Penajam Paser, in the vicinity of Nusantara Capital City (IKN),” said Parman on Thursday, October 24, 2024.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency, Suyus Windayana, said agrarian reform is one of the programs intended to achieve social justice and economic equality in the land sector.
Through agrarian reform, he claimed, the government strives to promote justice in the land ownership sector. Therefore, he urged Land Bank to implement the program earnestly.
"Continue to bring justice for all, land for the people. Ultimately, we want Indonesia to be a truly comfortable country for its citizens in 5 to 10 years," said Suyus.
Previously, the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) noted that a considerable number of North Penajam Paser residents were suspects in agrarian conflicts related to IKN. The Coordinator of the Human Rights Enforcement Sub-Commission, Uli Parulian Sihombang, noted that there were 9 farmers from Seleloang Village and 4 residents from Tamelow Sepak Village who became suspects during 2024.
Uli expressed surprise at the number of suspects in agrarian conflict in Penajam Paser Regency during a meeting with Tamelow residents representative at the Komnas HAM office on Thursday, October 17.
The nine farmers from Seleloang Village were accused of using violence against security officers during the land acquisition process for IKN Airport construction. Upon being named as suspects, they submitted a report to Komnas HAM.
Meanwhile, four residents of Temelow were named as suspects by the East Kalimantan Regional Police on October 14 for alleged encroachment on land owned by PT International Timber Corporation Indonesia (ITCI) Kartika Utama. The residents said they have resided in North Penajam Paser since 1979, way before PT ITCI.
Seeing as many residents have been designated as suspects in agrarian cases in IKN, Uli stated that Komnas HAM will push for all conflicts to be resolved through the land objects for agrarian reform (TORA) mechanism.
