TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian speed climber Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi clinches the gold medal in the final of the Women's Single Speed 4 category at the World Games 2025 in Chengdu, Tianfu Park, China, on Friday, August 15, 2025, with 6.35 seconds.
In the same final, Rajiah Sallsabillah also contributed a bronze medal with a time of 6.951 seconds. Rajiah finished behind Yu Mei Qin of China, who secured the silver medal with a time of 6.42 seconds.
In the Men's Single Speed 4 category, Kiromal Katibin claimed the silver medal with a time of 4.81 seconds, coming in behind the host representative Jian Guo Long, who recorded 4.74 seconds. Meanwhile, Nursamsa Raharjati, who also competed in the final with Kiromal, had to settle for no medal after recording the slowest time of 5.14 seconds.
The bronze medal in this category was obtained by Kazakhastan's athlete Rishat Khaibullin with a time of 4.83 seconds.
Desak Made achieved her fastest time of 6.35 seconds in both the final and semifinal. Her performance has been consistently improving since the qualification rounds, where she recorded 6.60 seconds, and in the round of 16 with 6.42 seconds.
The toughest competitor in the women's category was Ya Fei Zhou of China, who recorded the fastest time of 6.32 seconds in the qualification round but failed to make it to the final after falling in the semifinal.
Meanwhile, the gold medalist of the Paris 2024 Olympics, Veddriq Leonardo, was disqualified in the round of 16 for a False Start. He was deemed to have initiated movement before the starting bell rang.
With these three additional medals, Indonesia, which was initially ranked 20th in the temporary standings, now rises to 17th position with a total of 4 golds, 4 silvers, and 1 bronze. Three golds and two silvers were previously obtained from dragon boat racing, and one silver from wushu.
