TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China, or Indonesia-China High-Speed Rail company (KCIC), officially announced that Whoosh Karawang Station will serve passengers starting December 24, 2024 or before Christmas.
As reported by Antara, the opening of this station is part of the service improvement during the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 moments, providing convenience for the people of Karawang and its surroundings to carry out their activities.
General Manager Corporate Secretary KCIC, Eva Chairunnisa, said that Whoosh Karawang Station had previously been operating since October 2023 to support the operation of the Whoosh fast train. However, starting December 24, 2024, this station will serve passengers fully.
"The opening of Whoosh Karawang Station on December 24, 2024, is KCIC's effort to introduce this new service to the public. The opening of Karawang Station is carried out in stages to ensure that all operational and service aspects can run optimally," said Eva in her statement in Jakarta, Saturday, December 21, 2024.
Eva said that the preparation process for the opening of Karawang Station had been reviewed directly by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who strongly supports the opening because it is considered to increase public accessibility to enjoy fast and comfortable travel.
Whoosh Karawang Station Travel Schedule
Initially, Whoosh Karawang Station will serve 20 train schedules every day, with the following details:
Karawang – Halim Departure:
- 07:19, 08:09, 08:59, 09:49, 10:59
- 16:14, 16:49, 17:24, 19:04, 20:44
Karawang – Padalarang/Tegalluar Summarecon Departure:
- 07:15, 08:05, 08:30, 09:20, 09:57
- 16:20, 17:45, 19:00, 19:25, 20:15
Padalarang/Tegalluar Summarecon – Karawang Departure:
- 06:58, 07:48, 08:38, 09:28, 10:38
- 15:53, 16:28, 17:03, 18:43, 20:23
Halim – Karawang departure:
- 06:58, 07:48, 08:13, 09:03, 09:40
- 16:03, 17:28, 18:43, 19:08, 19:58
By using Whoosh, the travel time for the Halim – Karawang route or vice versa only takes 15 minutes, much faster than traveling by car which takes about 1 hour. Meanwhile, the Karawang – Padalarang route can be reached in 20 minutes, compared to 1.5 to 2 hours by vehicle.
Tickets to and from Karawang Station will be available on sale starting December 22, 2024, through various online and offline channels. Online bookings can be made through the Whoosh application, the official KCIC website at ticket.kcic.co.id, and partner applications such as Access by KAI, Livin’ by Mandiri, Brimo, BNI Mobile, and tiket.com. Offline purchases are available at the counter and Ticket Vending Machine (TVM) at the station.
Ticket Rates:
- Halim – Karawang Route: Starting from Rp125,000 (Premium Economy).
- Karawang – Padalarang/Tegalluar Summarecon Route: Starting from Rp175,000 (Premium Economy).
- Business Class: Rp450,000
- First Class: Rp600,000
Passengers can also take advantage of the KA Feeder facility for onward travel from Padalarang to Bandung and Cimahi.
Eva added that the opening of Whoosh Karawang Station was carried out in stages to ensure that all operational aspects ran optimally. KCIC continues to implement a dynamic fare scheme for this trip and is committed to supporting public mobility during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) said the number of Whoosh high-speed train passengers has increased to 20,000 passengers per day ahead of the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays. This figure has increased by 15 percent compared to the average on normal days which is around 16,000-18,000 passengers per day.
