TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Megawati Hangestri has just been selected as the best player (MVP) of the third round of the South Korean Volleyball League (V-League). She immediately expressed her desire to bring the Red Sparks to victory.
Mega's performance in the 2024-25 season was quite impressive. She became the best player in the third week, when she led her team to eight consecutive wins.
The 26-year-old player is grateful for her success in becoming an MPV. "I am very grateful that the team won and I was able to receive the MVP," she said.
"Actually, I don't have much desire for the MVP. I think if you do well, it's like a bonus. A team win is more important than performing well alone, and this time, the team's performance is also important. That makes me feel better."
Megawati then expressed her strong belief in winning the 2024-25 V-League season. "I will play with the goal of having a star (championship mark) on my chest when this season ends," she said in an interview with News 1.
Mega continued, "This season started difficultly, but I'm glad we finished the first half of the season. with consecutive wins. I will be more focused so as not to get tired in the second half."
Mega began strengthening the Red Sparks since last season. Her presence has made the South Korean Volleyball League much in demand and noticed by fans from Indonesia.
"When I first came to Korea, I never thought I would be this famous (in Indonesia)," she said. "I can reach this point because I focus on volleyball. I am very happy now."
Mega then talked about her collaboration with Vanja Bukilic. The two were initially doubted to be able to combine harmoniously, due to the unclear division of roles. However, contrary to everyone's expectations, the two of them transformed into a 'double weapon' that was frightening for opponents.
Mega said, "I am very excited to play with Bukilic for the first time. We work very well together. We are the same age, born in 1999. We both have MBTI 'E', so our style is extroverted. There is a synergy effect."
MBTI stands for Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, a personality test that identifies 16 personality types of a person. The test classifies personality based on four main dimensions, one of which is Extroversion (E).
Red Sparks currently ranks third in the standings with a score of 34, behind Pink Spiders (43 points) and Hillstate (41 points).
