MLB analyst Ruben Amaro Jr. went viral on Tuesday night after appearing to make an accidental sexual remark live on air.

During NBC Sports Philadelphia's pregame show before the Phillies' win over the Boston Red Sox, Amaro was discussing why he was optimistic about the team's chances when he suffered the unfortunate moment.

The former Phillies outfielder and general manager tried to mention pitcher Cristopher Sanchez being on the 'bump' when he seemingly said a different four-letter word by mistake.

Co-host Ricky Bottalico first said: 'I think Fittsy [Red Sox star Richard Fitts] is in trouble.'

Amaro then appeared to say by accident: 'Especially with Sanchez on the d***.'

Bottalico immediately turned to his colleague in astonishment before he corrected himself by saying 'on the bump' - which means being on the pitcher's mound.

WARNING - Offensive language

And fans were quick to see the funny side of Amaro's sexual blunder.

One joked: 'He is sitting with HR as we speak.'

Another said sarcastically: 'I’ve never heard that! Do ball players sometimes refer to the pitchers mound as “the d***”?'

'On the ?????' asked a third.

'Ricky’s face says it all,' a fourth commented.

While one simply laughed: 'Hahaha Ruben!'

Amaro, who was born and raised in Philadelphia, enjoyed two stints with the Phillies over the course of his eight-year MLB career before becoming assistant general manager and later general manager after retiring.

Since leaving his post as GM in 2015 he has also served as a first-base coach for the Red Sox and the New York Mets, which came before his move into broadcasting with NBC Sports Philadelphia in 2020.
